Autumn is a Mistress

Cooler night temps
come creeping back
between my sheets again

We share warm beverages
while watching fireflies fade
as shadows dance around bonfires

A caramel blanket that covers all
punctuated...
by reds
where you kiss
my cheeks and nose
by yellows
where rays of sun
dapple our skin

I snuggle in closer
as your cool breezes
caress my neck.
Deeper breaths.

Your embrace lulling
me to sleep
to hibernate until
mornings Spring alive again.
